Equipment full name:
Thermo Delta V Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer with two inlet peripherals: i) Elemental Analyzer (Costech 4010) coupled to a Conflo IV interface and ii) a CombiPAL autosampler with a Thermo Gas Bench II.

Description:
There are two peripheral inlets connected to the Delta V IRMS for different types of samples.
-
- With a CombiPAL/Gas bench peripheral device we can measure C and O isotopes in bulk solid-phase carbonates using phosphoric acid digestions. Liberated CO2 is analyzed for C and O isotopes with the Delta V IRMS using continuous flow isotope ratio mass spectrometry. With this inlet system, we can alternately measure headspace gas samples for CO2
- The other peripheral device is a Costech 4010 elemental analyzer (EA) that employs a ConFlo IV to interface with the Delta V. For solid samples that can be combusted, we can measure C and N isotopes on total carbon and nitrogen released to the gas phase.
