Equipment full name: Thermo Delta V Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometer with two inlet peripherals: (i) Elemental Analyzer (Costech 4010) coupled to a Conflo IV interface and (ii) a CombiPAL autosampler with a Thermo Gas Bench II.

Location: 112 Research West

Description: Two peripheral devices are connected to the Delta V IRMS (see image below):

    1. CombiPAL/Gas bench peripheral device: permits analysis of C and O isotopic composition in bulk carbonate solids. Upon digestion in phosphoric acid digestion, the C and O isotopic compositions of the liberated CO2 is determined by continuous flow isotope ratio mass spectrometry. With this inlet system, we are also able to analyze the isotopic composition of headspace CO2 gas.
    2. Costech 4010 elemental analyzer (EA) with ConFlo IV interface: permits analysis of the C and N isotopic compositions of combustible solid samples.
